The influences teachers and students use
technology in the classroom are primary based off alternative learning.
Technology provides an outlet for many teachers and students because it allows
both to steer away from the typical learning assignments and classroom procedures,
such as read out a textbook and a lecture. Kahoot is a great example as an
alternative learning experience. It allows students to become competitive, have
fun and learn at the same time. It benefits the teacher because it takes a load
off from standing in front of the class lecturing, plus the students are
engaged and participating.
A meaningful ISTE standard is empowered
learning. In the classroom I believe that empowered learning helps students
learn from each other, while also deconstructing the walls that many have built
when it comes to participating in class discussion. If a teacher empowers
students when they get questions right or wrong has to be the most rewarding
gratification students will have in the classroom. Students become able to set
goals for themselves and are able to become more articulate, thus improving
their educational learning skills. A standard that is outside my current skill
will be computational thinker because I'm typically not as technology savvy as
my peers. I know I have a lot of growing to do and I'm willing to learn as
well.
I do agree with the term Digital Natives
because students k-college, including myself, do depend heavily on technology.
For us new generation of students growing up and even now all we see is how
technology manifests itself across all fields of life. The only slight
difference between digital immigrants and digital native is the learning
process when dealing with technology. Digital natives can learn new technology
far easier than digital Immigrants because it comes easier to them since many
deals with technology daily. I anticipate the same difference for me and my future
students. As much as I would like to stay up to date with different and new
technology that is out there, I know for a fact that my future students will be
far more advance than me.

I completely agree, Kahoot is a fun learning tool. I always enjoy it when teachers incorporate it into our lessons.
