Blog #6

I have decided to view Mr. John Stinchfield's website, a wonderful English teacher at Florida State University Schools. Mr. Stinchfield teaches AP Language and Composition and  English III (honors), which is typically eleventh grade. On his website he has an about me page that informs us on his: educational background, professional experiences, certifications, professional affiliations, research activities, dissemination and service. On all the pages there is a link to the Syllabi as they corresponds with the class he teaches (AP. Lang and English 3), the journals for each period and he post the weekly lesson plans and units.

I plan to use technology in several ways within my classroom. The first and most prominent technology that I would use is a class blog such as Edmodo. With a class blog the students will become more interactive with the material and each others thoughts. I will also find different creative websites and technologies to help the students learn and retain the information learned. I strongly believe that class should not be boring, but rather very exciting because it helps students learn more as well as make it easier for teachers to ensure that the responsibilities are taken care of.

The Technology Sandbox was very interesting and had a lot of technology I hope to use in the future. Clear Touch Interactive Display Board is one technology I would love to use in my class. Clear Touch helps a lot with a lot of hands on interactive activities for students. I would mainly use it on Vibes Days, days in which my students have the class period to relax, catch up on missing homework and to be rewarded for being great students, in which the students would be able to engage with the educational games. Another tool that I would love to have in my classroom would have to be Osmo. Osmo helps with the basic content of different subjects. For my students, the spelling component of the app would be best. I would allow students to practice spelling words in a group or singularly. Osmo would help build their vocabulary which could be transparent in their individual writing.

Comments

  1. I've had teachers use Edmodo before, and I always found it to be very useful in the classroom, so I think that is a great idea!

  2. I agree with you on the fact that Edmodo is a great way to encourage peers to communicate with one another in an appropriate, teacher-guided settings. However, I did hear that there were some complications/controversy about Edmodo.
